Local Radio announce bid for Reading SSDAB

Reading UK, 30th March 2023

Following the announcement by OFCOM of the advertisement of ‘Round 5’ of SSDAB licences. Local Radio Ltd is delighted to announce its intention to apply for the Reading SSDAB MUX.

Local Radio Ltd is owned by B Radio Ltd, Reading’s only OFCOM FM licenced community radio station. Local Radio’s bid is supported by several other community radio stations including, Hospital Radio Reading, Marlow FM 97.5, Kennet Radio and Asian Star Radio.

Gavin Harris, Director of B Radio: 
“Our bid will allocate free DAB slots to locally owned and operated, OFCOM C-DSP licence holders. We promise to always give local operators in our area access first to our Small Scale DAB Multiplex before offering space to other broadcasters.Our vision for small-scale DAB in Reading is a diverse collection of radio stations, with a 'local first' approach. Giving Reading an amazing choice of locally programmed radio services.”

In a recent independently conducted survey for B Radio, 37% of respondents said that DAB was the primary platform they use to listen to the radio.
